Objective:

Empower the Matanuska-Susitna Borough residents to understand their rights and abilities to make informed and effective decisions to ensure their safety when law enforcement is not present. Skills will include an intellectual foundation encompassing laws, doctrines and a varying range of de-escalation options. These options will include safe practices for reading threat indicators, risk avoidance and the introduction of tools such as flashlights, pepper spray and sirens. This will be complimentary to the physical skills that include the ability to safely handle and deploy a firearm in the event deadly force is necessary.

• Alternatives to Deadly Force: Introduction to Less than Lethal Options

• Verbal De-Escalation: Practical Exercise in Verbal De-Escalation Techniques

• Tool Discovery: Flashlights, Pepper Spray, Sirens & Strobes

• Basic Firearm Safety: Safe-Storage, Loading, Unloading, Carry Methods

• Live-Fire Training: Introduction to the Fundamentals of Marksmanship and Manipulation

​Training Schedule & Location has been sent to the initial 300! Everyone on the Roster will have 30 Days to submit their Registration  Forms and select from available Training Dates and Locations. On 10/15/24, the Wait List will be given the opportunity to fill any vacancies from the Call List, in the order of their reservation.
